THIS DAY OF CHANGE – KODANSHA’S 100TH ANNIVERSARY PHOTO BOOK PROJECT

On January 20, 2009, history was rewritten as the first African American raised his hand at Capitol Hill and was sworn in as the 44th President of the United States.

On “THIS DAY OF CHANGE”, millions were inspired by his vision of Hope, and we at COURRiER Japon wanted to capture this day – to see what people saw, to feel what people felt.

With the help of 132 photographers based around the world, thousands of images from 79 countries around the world, we have made this project into a book. I was fortunate enough to be one of Five Picture Editors involved in making the book which was published in June 2009.  The book was nominated as The Best Photo book of the year at the Lucie Awards.
